Minor in Global South Studies

Fall 2020 Pass/No Pass: Courses taken P/NP during Fall 2020 can be counted toward a Global South Studies minor. Follow campus instructions for how to submit a retroactive grading option change request in January 2021.Please consider the following before changing your grading option:

  • FA20 P/NP courses will be counted towards the university 25% maximum 
  • Students must earn at least a C- grade to earn a P; a change from a D grade to NP will result in loss of units 
  • Financial aid packages will be affected by NP grades 



  • 2 courses from the lower-division Global South Studies sequence (TWS 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, or 26).
  • 5 upper-division courses in disciplines dealing with the Global South. 

Global South Studies faculty members offer courses in the Departments of Anthropology, Communication, Literature, Political Science, Sociology, History, and in the Global South Studies Program. Appropriate courses in other departments may also be considered. Students should consult departmental and program listings for Global South area offerings.
